Ottmar Sirch studied electrical engineering, specialising in semiconductor technology, at the Technical University of Munich until 1985. From 1985-2001, he worked at Siemens AG in the semiconductor division, later Infineon Technologies AG, as a technology developer, fault analyst and key account manager, as well as in strategic sales. He started his career at BMW Group in 2001. There he worked on various projects, including air-conditioning electronics, on-board power supply systems for hybrid vehicles and preliminary development of on-board power supply systems. He was instrumental in the standardisation and introduction of 48 volts in the automotive industry. From 2015 onwards, he was responsible for power electronics in electrified vehicles and onboard power systems as a cost engineer. In 2018 he moved to the area of chassis development.

Ottmar Sirch has been head of the conference “Electric & Electronic Systems in Hybrid and Electric Vehicles and Electrical Energy Management” since 2008, together with Dr Carsten Hoff.

Following his retirement from BMW Group he will will hand over his resposibility as conference chairman to Thomas Weber, Mercedes-Benz AG.

At the end of the first day, we invite all stakeholders and participants to a special event location for an evening of sharing and dinner: Erich-Brost-Pavillon.

At a height of 38 meters on the roof of the former coal washing plant, the event room, which is glazed on three sides, offers a breathtaking panoramic view – from the arena on Schalke to the Essen skyline and the Oberhausen gasometer.

The Erich Brost Pavilion is located in the coal washing plant of the Zollverein Essen UNESCO World Heritage Site.
